Google Voice outside US – How to use Google Voice outside the US?

Google Voice outside us

Google Voice (formerly GrandCentral) is a voice communications service launched by Google in 2009. In seven months, the application reached 1.4 million users, 570,000 of whom used the service daily.

The service is configured and kept by the users through a web-based application, designed after Gmail (Google’s e-mail service), or through the Android and iOS apps. The application offers free PC-to-Phone calling and PC-to-PC voice and video calling worldwide between users of the Google Voice and Video Chat browser plugin.

Users in the US are able to make outbound calls to domestic and international destinations from their cell phone app, the web-based application, or by dialing their Google Voice number. Since August 2011, users from many other nationalities were also able to make outbound calls from the web-based application to domestic and international phone numbers. However, even if the calls are free in the US and Canada, they cost $0.01 per minute from everywhere else.

Hence the interest to get an US account. Furthermore, the application is still unreachable in some countries.

The solution involves hiding your online identity. The VPN (Virtual Private Network) provides the opportunity to change your IP by connecting to worldwide VPN servers.

Once the connection is established, the new IP provided hides your other identity. Thus you are able to appear as an American user. You simply have to establish a connection with US VPN servers.
