How to watch MTV Movie Awards 2013 abroad with a VPN service?

MTV Awards

Young people have also something to say about movies!

Two months after the Academy Awards 2013, where Daniel Day-Lewis, Christoph Waltz, Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence winning the awards of the best actors and actresses in a leading role, now it’s time for MTV to give its own movie awards! And here is a big surprise: “The Twilight Saga”, which usually tops the nominations, is absent this time. However, the nominees are selected in a less rigorous way than by the Academy. Indeed, besides the categories like “Movie of the year” and “Breakthrough performance”, the audience has to vote for the “Best shirtless performance” (unbelievable, right?), the “Best kiss” and the “Best villain”. And among the nominees, “Django Unchained” by Tarantino, “Ted” by Seth McFarlane, “Silver Linings Playbook” by David O.Russell and “The Avengers” by Joss Whedon appear as the big favourites this year.

The “MTV Movie Awards 2013” will be broadcasted on the 14th of April, in Los Angeles, and presented by rising star Rebel Wilson (“What expect when you’re expecting”, “Bridesmaids”, “Bachelorette”). American People will only have to sit in front of their TV or their computer (MTV’s official website will broadcast the programme too). But what about those who don’t live in the United States? Waiting for the following day to read the news? Waiting for the awards show to be broadcasted in your country? Not sleeping to watch the event live? In this last case, you can go online. But here is what will be displayed on your screen the big day:

MTV unavailable

Is there a solution for that? Yes, and it is called a VPN.

Watch the MTV Movie Awards outside the US: how to do that?

Just before, I have mentioned the VPN service. But before I really talk about it, I would like to explain what an IP address is. Indeed, an IP identifies your computer when it is connected to an Internet network. The IP address changes according to the place or the country where you are. In the United Kingdom, you will have a certain IP, which will be different if you live in the United States. Then, it causes the geographical restriction: the fact that an American website’s contents are blocked in your country. To avoid this restriction, you need to install a VPN on your computer.

What is a VPN? It is simply an application which allows you to change your IP address, so you can access a foreign website’s contents. In this particular case, to watch the “MTV Movie Awards 2013”, you will need an American IP. To access websites like Netflix or Hulu, you will also need an IP from the US.

This is the main function of a VPN service. The others are the following:

  • A secured Internet connection: without a VPN, hackers can access your data and then hack your bank account, for example; with a VPN, you are protected against any possible threat.
  • Confidentiality and anonymity: generally, when you go online, everybody can see what you are doing and you can’t see it; when the VPN is installed on your computer, only your new IP leaks out.

You understand then the VPN service makes your life easier on the Internet and gives you more freedom than before.

Have a good evening then on Sunday!
